Kettles on Parade
You’re Invited to Participate In
The Salvation Army of Macon County’s 125th Anniversary
In Celebration of The Salvation Army’s 125th Year in Macon County, we would like to invite you to participate in “Kettles on Parade”, a community project where groups, families or individuals can adopt & decorate a kettle, enter it into our contest, and then display the kettles throughout various outlets in the community!
We encourage groups to adopt a kettle, and paint it with a theme that represents the heart and purpose of their group or club. Kettles could also be painted with a historical theme in light of the 125th anniversary, themes of helping others in our community, themes that represent your city or anything else you can think of. The sky is the limit...be creative! Groups or individuals will then raise money for their kettle. A winner for “Best Artist” will be announced at our Annual Dinner, and a winner for the group who raises the most funds for their kettle will be announced at a later date.
The kettles will be displayed at our Annual Appreciation Dinner & Anniversary Celebration on May 15, 2014. Kettles will also be displayed in the Decatur Christmas Parade, at various locations throughout the Christmas season, and at businesses/locations in the community that your group will choose! See the attached pages for more information.
How to Participate:
Step 1: Please return this registration form and a $40 fee (to cover the cost of the kettle) to us
by November 29th in order to participate. Kettles will be adopted out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
A maximum of 20 kettles will be adopted out.
Step 2: Pickup your kettle at our offices, 229 W Main St., Decatur! Decorate it with a theme that represents your group, or a theme that represents Macon County, The Salvation Army, your business, etc. Be creative!
Note: Kettles must still be able to be opened after being decorated or painted.
Step 3: Stop by with your completed kettle by November 29th at 2pm. We will take a picture of your kettle for the website, provide a lock for the kettle, and you will then take it with you to be placed a sponsor
location of your choice!
Step 4: Raise money for your kettle! Direct people to our website in order to see your kettle and “give” to it! Find a sponsor location, such as a local business, to display your kettle where donations can be collected and it can be monitored by a staff person. The donations that come in through your kettle or online for your kettle will count towards your goal! If your kettle gets full, contact us and we will come and empty it.
Step 5: Return your kettle to us by December 23rd. The kettle will then be displayed at our Annual Appreciation Dinner in May, 2014, where the Top Three Artist Winners, previously chosen by a panel of judges, will be announced. Attendees will also donate to the kettle of their choice!
Step 6: Look for the top fundraising winner to be announced on our website on January 6, 2014!
