International leader visits Detroit
The Salvation Army Brass Band to play special concert at Hart Plaza in honor of the international leader’s Detroit visit
WHAT: The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit Brass Band will play a special concert in honor of a visit from the nonprofit’s international leader, General André Cox, at Hart Plaza on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 1 p.m.
A sizable Salvation Army brass band, featuring musicians from across southeast Michigan, will assemble at Hart Plaza and give a 25-minute performance of traditional marches. Following the concert the musicians will travel to Cobo Center for The Salvation Army Dream Congress.

WHY: A sizable brass band performing in honor of a visit from The Salvation Army’s international leaders, General André Cox and Commissioner Silvia Cox.
HISTORY: Founded by William and Catherine Booth in London, England in 1865, The Salvation Army is a faith-based, non-profit organization dedicated to serving people in need without discrimination. This past year, The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit was involved in providing 3,377,846 meals and 807,418 nights of shelter for the homeless.
