Service Extension

Providing emergency assistance to rural communities throughout the Great Lakes region

The Salvation Army Service Extension Department provides emergency assistance to residents in 17 counties in eastern Michigan.  The goal is to provide supportive assistance to people during crisis situations and to identify other community resources which are available to provide additional help.

Our volunteer units act as an extension of The Salvation Army in communities without a Salvation Army building directed by a Salvation Army officer.  A unit consists of volunteers from the community who have been organized to assist The Salvation Army with its religious and charitable activities.

The Salvation Army Service Extension program is funded through generous donations from individuals who care about helping others.  Additional funds in some communities are raised through traditional Christmas bell ringing campaigns, and mail appeals.  Funds received by The Salvation Army are used to benefit the area they originated from.

We serve the following counties:

Alcona, Arenac, Clare, Cheboygan, Crawford, Gladwin, Huron, Iosco, Lapeer, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, Roscommon, Sanilac, Tuscola
