Greater Peoria Area Services
Peoria serves as the Divisional Headquarters for the Heartland Division, but also is home to a Salvation Army corps, as well as providing many social services.
At our downtown campus in Peoria, we feature the Sylvia Fites Family Service Center, our Veterans Outreach Center, a Child Care Center and our Family Shelter and Food Warehouse.
Services include our daily soup kitchen "Lunch with Love", our food pantry
and additional services including emergency case management. Our Family Shelter is a 40 bed shelter available for single women, women with children and intact families. Last year, over 201,000 meals were provided through our various feeding outreach programs in Peoria.
The Fites Center also operates a daily drop-in center for the homeless as well
as the nightly Safety Net Shelter for area homeless men.
The Peoria Corps Community Center on W. Nebraska Avenue in Peoria, is the
church home of The Salvation Army. It also offers a small food pantry, after school
programs and character enrichment groups for children.

The Salvation Army officers, staff and volunteers also make regular and frequent visits to hospitals, nursing homes and to individual shut-ins. Often, these visits are the only contact the patients have with the world outside. The precious gift of spending time is most appreciated by those who are lonely.
