Proceeds from the golf outing will benefit The Salvation Army's youth programs, including camp, after-school programs and music education for disadvantaged children and teens in the Chicagoland area, as well as shelter for families in extreme crisis.
In 2016, The Salvation Army's Child Care program provided 18,486 care days to more than 355 children. Of those children served, 70% completed the program either up-to-date or on schedule in terms of key health and mental wellness milestones according to State of Illinois standards.
More than 54,233 students at 15 sites in the Chicago area received musical instruction aligned with Common Core State Standards. The Salvation Army worked together with teachers and principals at four Chicago Public Schools to ensure students had access to arts and cultural programs.
In 2016, the Evangeline Booth Lodge provided emergency lodging and supportive services to 674 men, women and children. Combining all shelter programs, each night over 1,200 people are accommodated under a Chicagoland Salvation Army roof.
