Nicor “Sharing” is a program designed to assist low-income families and provide crisis assistance to Nicor residential heating customers. These families are having difficulities meeting home heating needs, or (but not limited to) increase medical expenses, loss of full time income, or death of a spouse. It is funded through the generous donations of Nicor customers and employees. It is available to customers one time each calendar year.
Eligibility for participation is determined by total household income for the most recent 30-days period. In order to qualify, total household income must fall between 150 and 250 percent of the poverty level, as defined by the Federal Department of Health and Human Services.
Applicants must also be ineligible for State or Federal energy assistance programs (CEDA or LIHEAP).
