Capital One has generously donated $10,000 toward the purchase of food items for the more than 10,000 Christmas food boxes that The Salvation Army provides to needy families each year. But Capital One didn’t stop there. In addition to the monetary contribution, Capital One employees are also getting in the spirit by volunteering at several different events this holiday season.

On Monday, October 21, Capital One employees assembled 20,000 packages of nutrient-enriched macaroni and cheese to go in Christmas food boxes as part of their One Week program, a national volunteer initiative with the goal of bringing Capital One associates together to strengthen and add value to their communities.

“I jumped at the chance to lead this event with The Salvation Army,” said Beth McGovern, Event Captain for the October 21 macaroni and cheese packing event and Capital One employee. “We believe strongly in everything that The Salvation Army does and want to help out locally. I think sometimes people forget that hunger isn’t just worldwide, but local as well.”

“It’s for a good cause and I enjoy volunteering,” said Roz Dingle, Capital One employee and volunteer. “The Salvation Army made volunteering for us so easy by setting the whole event up for us right here in our building. And it’s such a unique opportunity. I’ve never done anything like this before.”

Capital One employees will also pack food boxes at The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Headquarters on December 3; host an employee food drive at each of their Chicagoland offices from November 11 – 15; and buy toys and much-needed clothing for 250 children through The Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree Program.

Thank you to Capital One for helping The Salvation Army to ‘Do the Most Good’ this Christmas!
