Minnesota back-to-school collection to benefit local kids
Local Shopko stores will collect school supplies as part of the “Tools for School” program beginning Sat., July 12 for families served by The Salvation Army.
“Believe it or not, back-to-school time can be more stressful on parents than children,” said Lt. Colonels Robert Thomson, Salvation Army Northern Division leader. “We are hoping to take some of that burden off of mom and dad, so they can help make returning to school exciting for their kids.”
Lists of supplies needed and donation drop-off boxes will be located at more than 30 Shopko stores in Minnesota and North Dakota. Simply shop and drop donations off at Shopko from July 12 through August 8. Donations of new school supplies will also be accepted at Salvation Army Worship and Service Centers.
Financial gifts to purchase supplies can be mailed to your local Salvation Army or to The Salvation Army Northern Division, 2445 Prior Ave., Roseville, MN, 55113. Please note the donation is for school supplies. You can also give online and write “school supplies” in the specific use field.
