Salvation Army Fan Drive Helps Those in Need Beat The Heat

Westlake Ace Hardware to team up with The Salvation Army

in Omaha to raise money for fans

This summer, Westlake Ace Hardware has teamed up with the Omaha Salvation Army to help collect money for fans. All money raised will be used to purchase fans. The Salvation Army will distribute the fans this summer to low-income seniors, qualified families with children, and adults with disabilities.

Westlake Hardware is kicking off the "Salvation Army Fan Drive" on July 19 with a donation of 50 box fans and local residents can do their part too:

· From Saturday, July 19 – Aug 3, all Omaha-area Westlake Hardware stores and stores in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Lincoln, Neb., will collect donations to benefit the local Salvation Army.

· For every dollar raised during the two-week period, Westlake Hardware will purchase fans at cost for The Salvation Army so they will be able to provide even more fans to Omaha residents when demand is the highest.

· A Fan Drive kick-off celebration will be held at the Westlake location, 350 N. Saddle Creek Road on Saturday, July 19 from 10 am - 2 p.m. Complimentary hot dogs and refreshments will be served between 11 am – 1 pm. People will have an opportunity to donate money for the drive. Ricky Woods with Star 104.5 will provide music and prizes from 10 am – 12 pm.

“It’s very easy to help,” said Timothy Benesch, general manager of the Saddle Creek Westlake store. “Visit any local Westlake July 19 - Aug 3 and at the checkout counter, make a donation toward a fan in any chosen amount. For a $5 donation, one ‘fan blade’ can be given, $10 provides two ‘fan blades’, $15 for three blades or $20 for the entire fan.”

For more information about eligibility to receive a fan, contact The Omaha Salvation Army Renaissance Center at 402.898.5866.
