LaGrange County Community Foundation 2024 Grant
The Salvation Army, serving LaGrange County, Steuben County and the northern half of Elkhart County, has received a $5,000 grant from the LaGrange County Community Foundation to support its Basic Emergency Services program. The award comes from the Community Impact Grant at the Community Foundation.
Ron Sherck, Development Director for The Salvation Army, said the funds would be used to increase the number of resources to help individuals and families of LaGrange County who are facing times of financial crisis and provide supportive assistance. The grant funds will enable The Salvation Army to provide support for approximately 640 individuals in the next 12 months.
“This grant award allows us to expand The Salvation Army’s assistance reach and help persons and families who otherwise would be limited in accessing available resources” said Sherck.
Meeting social, spiritual, and emotional needs, The Salvation Army annually serves an average of over 3,500 individuals through year-round programs and services. The umbrella of programs and services reaches wide and includes supplying food, rental and utility assistance, childcare financial assistance, programs for youth, spiritual counseling, equipping families to break the cyclical nature of poverty, aiding disaster victims when catastrophe strikes, as well as assisting families at Christmas.
