No One Should Grow Old Alone

We meet the needs of the mind, body and soul of our keenagers

The Salvation Army senior program is the largest in Kent County, according to the area agency for aging in western Michigan.

The Salvation Army invites senior citizens into relationships with others through our senior center program. To help combat the loneliness, depression, and loss of independence that can accompany old age, we provide group dining experiences, as well as a holistic set of program offerings.

Our Fulton Heights Senior Program provides a wide range of activities, including a wide variety of group exercise options, crafting activities, Bible study, how-to seminars, dancing, movies, bingo, karaoke, book club, and more. We also provide additional intergenerational opportunities for senior citizens to participate actively with the Fulton Heights community.

The Salvation Army is dedicated to
serving Seniors and the Elderly through

Community

We provide a wide variety of program offerings and non-program fellowship opportunities that empower older adults to learn, laugh, and thrive while making new friends and developing existing friendships.

Food Programs

We provide a nutritious meal three times a week for Senior Program partiicpants.  They also have the opportunity to shop for pantry items, using tickets earned from their participation in the various classes and activities offered.

Activities

The Salvation Army works to stimulate the minds and bodies of older adults.  We offer multiple group fitness classes and activities each day, ranging from Cardio Drumming to Tai Chi to Arthritis Fitness to Jukebox Jive to Enhanced Fitness to Line Dancing. Seniors often play Wii sports or work out together using videos.  In addition, we help to keep the mind fit - we offer stimulating "brain games", classes, seminars and book and movie clubs. In addition, we provide Bible Study, women's ministries, bingo, and service opportunities. We are always looking for new opportunities to enhance our time together!
