61st Annual Pancake Day

Mar 18, 2024

One of Elkhart County's favorite community events is just around the corner. The 61st Annual Pancake Day, a fundraiser for The Salvation Army of Goshen, will take place on April 26, 2024. Volunteers and staff will be flipping and serving pancakes at The Salvation Army, located at 1013 N. Main Street in Goshen, from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Advance tickets are just $7 and can be purchased by visiting salarmy.us/pancakeday.

Description automatically generatedThis annual tradition brings visitors from near and far to Goshen and raises funds to support year-round services and programs for local residents in need. In 2023, The Salvation Army of Goshen provided 27,486 meals to feed those facing food insecurity in the community. Almost 7,500 individuals benefited from basic social services programs last year, including rent and utility emergency assistance that kept families in their homes and prevented power and water disconnects.

"Each year we depend on this fundraiser to support our various programs and ministries at the local Salvation Army," said Captain Joseph Hixenbaugh of The Salvation Army of Goshen. "From our social services programs like food pantry, rent, and utility assistance to our senior program and many others."

Pancake Day is a 13-hour event, so attendees can enjoy pancakes for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Over the years it has been hosted at a variety of locations. The first Pancake Day took place in 1964 at the old Plain and Fancy restaurant on Main Street. The event has continued to grow and last year over 6,500 pancakes were made and served to attendees.

Many generous sponsors have already stepped up to support Pancake Day, including Diamond Sponsor John & Lois Fidler. Silver Sponsors helping to make the event possible include Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Greg & Charlotte Hoogenboom, Martin Bros. Contracting, Interra Credit Union, and Elkhart Community Foundation.

The list of Bronze Sponsors continues to grow and currently includes Yoder Ainlay Ulmer & Buckingham LLP, Hopper’s Pike Street Grille, Davis & Roose, Hostetler & Askew Door, First State Bank, Goshen Stamping, Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, and Hoosier Hardwood Floors. Any businesses or individuals interested in becoming a sponsor can visit The Salvation Army's sponsor page HERE.

While advance tickets are recommended, last-minute diners can still buy tickets on April 26 for just $8 at the door. All are welcome to come and enjoy food and fellowship for a good cause!
