Pancake Day Cancelled :-(
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and following advice from local healthcare leaders, The Salvation Army of Goshen has made the difficult decision to cancel its 57th Annual Pancake Day on Friday, Nov. 20.
“A tradition in Goshen since 1963, Pancake Day is a date so many of us in the community highlight on our calendars,” said Major Tim Sell, commanding officer for The Salvation Army of Goshen. “I’m extremely disappointed we cancelled this year, but the health and safety of our neighbors is paramount. The Salvation Army wants to thank our great community sponsors and patrons for their generous support of this year’s event, and we look forward to Pancake Day in 2021.”
The Salvation Army uses Pancake Day to start off its holiday season of giving and emergency support, and the funds raised are used throughout the year. This year’s goal was $85,000, but it looks like we’ll be at least $20,000 short. We are welcoming any additional support through Red Kettle volunteering, social media Virtual Kettles, hosting rounding up at registers and counter kettles. Please contact Major Tim Sell directly: tim.sell@usc.salvationarmy.org or 574-533-9584.
Individuals who have already purchased tickets for Pancake Day are advised to hold on to them for a future event. When safe to do so, The Salvation Army hopes to hold an event(s) where their ticket would be valid.
