"Hungry" is no way to spend childhood

Every day The Salvation Army helps cure hunger by providing nutritious meals to neighbors in need.

Here in Michigan, one out of six children face food insecurity.

The Salvation Army works to ensure that every member of our community has the food they need to thrive. If you face hunger, we want you to know that you are not alone.

How we help cure hunger

Food and Personal Items Pantry

The Salvation Army Emergency Food Pantry is a practical way to address the basic needs of families and individuals turning to us for help.   We currently provide emergency food and personal items.

Households in need may acquire food up to four times per year, or every three months.  The amount of food each household receives is based on the number of individuals in the home. Hours for food distribution are Wednesday: 8:30 - noon, Thursday: 8:30 - 4:00, and Friday: 8:30 - noon. Appointments are encouraged but NOT required.

We always accept all types of non-perishable food items and personal items.  Please be sure to check the expiration dates on all food prior to delivery as we do not give out expired food. We also need paper grocery bags.

Below, you can find a complete list of personal and food items that are needed in the pantry everyday:
