Urgent Call for Support: The Salvation Army's Food Pantry is Nearly Empty

Sep 12, 2024 | by Steve Dykstra

The Salvation Army has long been a beacon of hope for those in need, providing essential services and support to individuals and families facing difficult times. However, today we find ourselves in a challenging situation. Our food pantry, a critical resource for our community, is nearly empty. We are reaching out with an urgent call for donations to help restock our shelves and continue serving those who depend on us.

The Growing Need

In recent weeks, the demand for food assistance has surged. More families and individuals are turning to us for help, and the increased need has significantly depleted our pantry supplies. Our shelves, once stocked with non-perishable goods and essential items, are now looking bare.

"We are seeing more families than ever before coming through our doors," said Major Ronnie, a leader at The Salvation Army. "The demand for food assistance has surged, and we simply do not have enough supplies to serve everyone. We are asking the community to come together during this critical time to ensure no one goes hungry."

What We Need

To address this urgent need, we are calling on our community to contribute non-perishable food items or make financial donations. Here are some of the items we need the most:

Canned goods (vegetables, fruits, soups, etc.)
Boxed meals (pasta, rice, cereals)
Peanut butter and jelly
Baby formula and diapers
Bottled water and snacks
Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference. Your support will help us restock our pantry and continue providing essential assistance to those in need.

How You Can Help

Donations can be dropped off at our location at 1700 S. Burdick or donations can be made on our website.

If you are part of a local business, church, or organization, consider organizing a food drive to collect donations from your network. Your efforts in gathering and distributing food will have a direct impact on our ability to support the community.

Conclusion

We are grateful for the unwavering support of our community and know that together we can overcome this challenge. Your generosity will help ensure that we can continue to provide for those who rely on our food pantry. Thank you for your commitment to making a difference and for helping us spread the word about this urgent need.
