Praising God for Spring!

Apr 10, 2019 | by Major Glen Caddy

As the grass turns green, the buds begin to pop, and the birds return to the trees our minds turn to the thoughts of spring.  Soon there will be flowers to smell, and long lines at the soft-serve merchant to endure. All of these are pictures of the newness of life that accompanies the arrival of spring. There is a freshness in the air and a new sense of optimism, especially after a long hard winter.

To me, it is no coincidence that Easter falls in the midst of spring. There is no more powerful demonstration of emerging from the depths of winter, than the exit of Jesus from the tomb. What was once dead and lifeless emerges full of life and energy and a beauty beyond description.  This new life is promised to all who will accept it. In John 10:10 Jesus declares that he came so that men could have life “to the full.” In this season of re-birth and renewal we are challenged to consider the possibilities that the resurrection has in store for us. In his reflections on this truth the apostle Paul shares the amazing conclusion; “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" 1 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

Praise God for spring! Praise God for new Life!
