The Salvation Army of La Porte Announces $12,000 Red Kettle Match
All donations in La Porte will be matched by anonymous donor December 19 through Christmas Eve
Bells may be ringing a little louder in this final week of fundraising for The Salvation Army of La Porte thanks to an anonymous local donor. From December 19 through Christmas Eve all gifts made to Red Kettles at local businesses will be doubled up to $12,000 thanks to this generous gift.
"This donor is especially passionate about our choice food pantry, which serves more than 200 families every week," said Major Katie Pinkston of The Salvation Army La Porte Corps. "We're so grateful for their continued support and for using this gift in such a creative way!"
The food pantry is always busy these days, with household budgets stretched to their limits by inflation, job loss, and underemployment. Last year, The Salvation Army provided almost 465,000 meals to the community in their fight against food insecurity. Money raised in Red Kettles this year will mean hundreds of thousands of meals that can be served in 2025.
"A match like this gives us hope that we can reach our Christmas goal," Major Katie shared. "We know the people of this community, and they are incredibly generous of their time and resources. I have no doubt that they'll rise to the occasion and help us in these final days of the Red Kettle Campaign."
Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this week will find bell ringers at Walmart, Kabelin's, Kroger, Al's, and the U.S. Post Office. Volunteer bell ringers are still needed to man every kettle through Christmas Eve. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this week is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.
Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in the community where it is given.
