38th Annual Bed & Bed Club Radiothon is a success
Salvation Army’s 38th Annual Bed & Bread Club Radiothon Raises Over $1.2 Million to Fight Hunger and Homelessness
For nearly four decades, The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit has been a beacon of hope for those facing hunger and homelessness. The 38th annual Bed & Bread Club Radiothon exceeded expectations this year, raising an impressive$1,229,910—surpassing its goal by nearly $30,000. Furthermore, The Artichoke Garlic Foundation generously donated a new Bed & Bread truck, valued at $75,000, further strengthening the fight against food insecurity.
The 27-hour Radiothon, broadcast live from Ford’s Garage in Dearborn, aired on 760 WJR. Beloved on-air personalities like Renee Vitale, Guy Gordon, Mitch Albom, and Lomas Brown rallied listeners to support their neighbors in need. The station has partnered with The Salvation Army for 14 years and played a crucial role in amplifying the call for donations.
"We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our listeners," said Steve Finateri, 760 WJR market manager. "Their support makes a real, tangible difference for those in our community who need it most."
The event also featured heartfelt appearances by Michigan’s own Tim Allen and Detroit radio legend Dick Purtan, who pioneered the first Radiothon in 1988. Thanks to the unwavering support of donors and local leaders, the Salvation Army continues its mission of providing daily meals and shelter to thousands, proving once again that Detroit’s spirit of giving is stronger than ever.
