Anonymous Donor to Match Cash in Salvation Army Red Kettles up to $3,000
With just days left until the end of The Salvation Army's annual Christmas fundraising campaign, donations made to the iconic Red Kettles this Friday could have double the impact in 2023. On December 16 cash donations at Porter County kettles will be matched thanks to an anonymous $3,000 gift. The funds from this anonymous "Angel donor" were given in the hope that last-minute holiday shoppers would be inspired to give generously knowing that their gifts will go twice as far to help those in need.
While the donor may be a mystery, the impact of this match is not. If holiday shoppers increase their giving just a little, the goal of raising $3,000 in just a single day is attainable. Once doubled, the grand total of $6,000 would help to fund vital services to the community in 2023. From keeping the food pantry stocked to providing funds for emergency financial assistance, these donations are used throughout the year to help local residents make it through times when they are struggling to keep a roof over their heads or feed their families.
The Salvation Army worked throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and recent economic downturn to meet the increased needs of Porter County residents facing uncertainty and a rising cost of living. With Christmas just around the corner, they are busy ensuring that families have a joyful holiday filled with hope and love, not fear and disappointment. Donations made to Red Kettles in November and December keep the hope alive for these families long after Christmas has passed.
"A matching donation of this amount will help us provide a safe place for kids to come and learn new skills in our NASP Archery Program, learn the piano or a brass instrument, or for us to just provide a safe place to hang out and participate in our character-building programs," said Captain Jim Prichard of The Salvation Army of Porter County.
The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers to help ring bells at Red Kettles on Friday and on the final shopping days leading up to Christmas. These important volunteers are vital to reaching the goal of raising $3,000 on Friday. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell for two hours is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.
Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in Indiana.
