Donations to Salvation Army Red Kettles Doubled Up to $15,000 Final Days of Bell Ringing
Local donors are challenging shoppers to meet their match December 19-24
The annual Red Kettle Campaign wraps up on Christmas Eve, but shoppers in Porter County will have twice the reasons to give in these final days of fundraising. The Salvation Army of Porter County is excited to announce that a local couple are providing up to $15,000 in matching dollars for all donations given to Porter County Red Kettles from Thursday, December 19 to Tuesday, December 24.
"We are truly in awe of the generosity shown by our neighbors. When there’s a need, you step up—and your support is making a real difference," said Captain Jim Prichard, pastor and corps administrator for The Salvation Army. "Thanks to a matching gift of $15,000, we’re able to continue offering vital services, including our food pantry, rent and utility assistance, and youth programs like summer day camp, archery, and music."
Last year The Salvation Army of Porter County was able to respond to the increased need they've seen across the county. High inflation, job loss, and underemployment are stretching household budgets and increasing the demand for social services assistance programs. The Salvation Army is able to provide some relief and support when local households feel stretched to their limit, but this is only possible through the support of the entire Porter County community.
“It’s neighbors helping neighbors, and we couldn’t do it without you," Captain Prichard added. "This weekend, every dollar you donate will be matched. Help us reach our Christmas goal and continue making an impact in the lives of so many families. Thank you for being part of something bigger and sending hope to those in need."
Volunteer bell ringers are needed to sign up for 2-hour shifts to ensure that every Red Kettle can be out each day of the match. Individuals, groups, and families are encouraged to visit RegisterToRing.com to sign up for the date, time, and location of their choosing. Red Kettles will be placed at a number of locations this year, including Walmart, Strack and Van Til, Emagine Theatres, Bass Pro Shop, Hobby Lobby, Jewel, JCPenney, Walgreens, and Town and Country.
All funds donated to The Salvation of Porter County will stay local to help out residents in need throughout 2025. To learn more about The Salvation Army's mission and ministries, visit SAPorterCounty.org.
