Matthew West Tour Stop to Benefit The Salvation Army

Nov 7, 2024

Gobble Gobble one... Gobble Gobble two... Thanksgiving should be spent surrounded by family and food! This holiday season The Salvation Army proudly announces that in collaboration with Mathew West’s Don’t Stop Praying tour, Awakening Foundation, and Altrua HealthShare, we will be donating turkeys to families in need during this November. The Awakening Foundation’s partnership continues to find new and creative ways to expand and support The Salvation Army’s impact nationwide.

Matthew West, along with Awakening Foundation and Altrua HealthShare, is contributing a generous $1,000 donation to The Salvation Army at 11 stops of the Don’t Stop Praying tour. In celebration of West’s song “Gobble Gobble,” the $11,000 raised will help provide Thanksgiving turkeys to families in need. This contribution will support The Salvation Army’s ongoing efforts to combat food insecurity ensuring more families can “Gobble Gobble” together this Thanksgiving.

For over 100 years, The Salvation Army has helped families put food on the table. “This donation is being made at the perfect time" said Major Mike Wolfe of The Salvation Army's corps community center in Anderson. "The holidays should be joyous, but hunger can strip away that joy for families. We're grateful for this opportunity to bring some light and joy to our community with meals that fill our bodies our souls and are especially thankful to Awakening Foundation for making this possible."

"Food insecurity remains a pressing issue across our country, and the Salvation Army plays a crucial role in supporting local communities facing this challenge,” said Dan Fife with the Awakening Foundation. “Through our partnership on this tour, we’re ensuring that families in the area can gather around a Thanksgiving meal with hope and gratitude. We’re deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the Salvation Army in bringing joy and comfort to families in need this holiday season.”

At The Salvation Army, we recognize that many families struggle with food insecurity on a daily basis. Holiday season aside, many people and families struggle to access consistent and nutritious meals year-round. Part of The Salvation Army’s mission is reducing families’ uncertainty about where their next meal will come from. On top of the variety of meal services offered at The Salvation Army, these turkey donations are helping to alleviate the burden of food insecurity for families during the holidays.
