Share the Warmth
To safely play outside in a South Dakota winter, a child needs a proper winter coat, snow pants, boots, weatherproof gloves, a hat, and a scarf. The cost of these items can really add up, especially when there are multiple children in a household. The goal of Share the Warmth is to help ease the burden of the cost of this necessary winter outerwear for grade-school children. However, the event is open to all because we believe that no one should have to go without a warm coat in a cold South Dakota winter.
We rely on community donations of new and gently used winter outerwear items, Red Kettle and other financial donations, and hundreds of volunteers to make the one-day event a success. After the event, a limited selection of items is available at The Salvation Army office or at Faith Church year-round. All items are given away for free to those in need in Brookings County.

Para jugar afuera de forma segura en el tiempo de invierno en Dakota del Sur, un niño necesita un abrigo de invierno adecuado, pantalones para la nieve, unas botas, guantes resistentes a la intemperie, un gorro y una bufanda. El costo de estos artículos en realidad se puede aumentar, especialmente cuando hay varios niños en un hogar. El objetivo de Compartir el Calor es ayudar a aliviar la carga de costo de esta necesaria ropa exterior de invierno para los niños de escuela primaria. Sin embargo, el evento está abierto a todos porque creemos que nadie debería quedarse sin un Abrigo en el frio invierno de Dakota del Sur.
Dependemos de donaciones de la comunidad para los artículos de invierno nuevos y en buen estado, Red Kettle y otras donaciones financieras, y cientos de voluntarios para que el evento de un día que sea un éxito. Después del evento, una selección limitada de artículos estará disponible en la oficina de The Salvation Army o en Faith Church durante todo el año. Todos los artículos se regalan a quienes los necesitan en Brookings County.

Make a Difference
Share the Warmth started nearly 20 years ago with one woman and 20 coats which she gave out of the backseat of her car. Since then, we have distributed thousands of coats and other necessary winter outerwear to those in need. Help support our mission of continuing to serve those in need by making a donation to our Share the Warmth program.
