New Substance Abuse Outpatient Service Facility in Lake County

Aug 13, 2020

Beginning immediately, individuals who are struggling with drug and alcohol dependency and co-occurring disorders will have a local, professional resource to perform a needs assessment and provide supports needed in order to achieve long term freedom from addiction.

Turning Point Programs will provide professionally directed screening, evaluation, treatment and ongoing recovery and disease management services. These services will be provided in regularly scheduled sessions for adults, aged 18 and older. Services will follow a defined set of policies, procedures and clinical protocols. Turning Point’s outpatient programming is based on the American Society of Addiction Medicine Level of Care criteria and has programming established to support the individualized services that maintain cultural, age and gender appropriateness.

No stranger to the area of substance use disorder services, The Salvation Army has provided assistance to the residents of West Michigan since 1973 with quality, experience and best practices in their treatment programs and services. Turning Point Programs is a fully Joint Commission Accredited provider.

According to recent community surveys, Lake, Crawford, and Kalkaska community members all cited substance abuse as the number one community health problem in their county.  This sentiment is shared by the youth in the counties, as well.

“The Salvation Army continues to be a beacon of hope to those in our local community to those who need it most,” said Kari Harburn, Turning Point Programs Director. “We want to thank the Baldwin community for their support and reassure them that as long as human needs exist, The Salvation Army will be here to meet these needs,” Harburn added.
