Central Indiana Ace Hardware Stores Helping People Beat the Heat with The Salvation Army
As temperatures begin to rise, Great Lakes Ace Hardware Stores is teaming up with The Salvation Army of Central Indiana to bring some summer relief to those in need through our annual Fan Drive. The campaign runs May 19th – June 7th and aims to provide box fans to help families stay cool during the hot summer months.
Customers of Ace Hardware and the community can help the campaign by rounding up their purchases at all five Indianapolis Ace Hardware stores. All proceeds will then be used to purchase box fans and donated to The Salvation Army of Central Indiana.
Last year, Ace Hardware stores in Indianapolis raised a total of $4,685, resulting in 241 box fans given to the local Salvation Army for distribution to local citizens.
“These fans came at a crucial time last year while we were going through some hot weeks and families were very grateful for the box fan,” said Major Malinda O’Neil. “A box fan may seem simple but it can mean a lot more to someone who doesn’t have air conditioning. These fans brought simple relief.”
“From the beginning, the Fan Drive has made a tangible difference in the lives of people across the country,” said Joe Jeffries, president and CEO of Ace Retail Holdings (parent company of Great Lakes Ace Hardware). “Our customers' generosity continues to inspire us, and we’re proud to help provide relief to those who need it most. Giving back is part of who we are.”
Donations are accepted at all five Great Lakes Ace Hardware-owned stores in Indianapolis. Every dollar raised stays in the local community, ensuring help reaches those who need it most — right where they live. Once the box fans are delivered to The Salvation Army of Central Indiana, families and individuals will have the opportunity to pick up a fan at one of our corps communities centers in Fountain Square and Eagle Creek, until supplies last.
