The 25th Anniversary of Golf 4 Kids raises over $40,000 for children in Central Indiana

May 12, 2025

The 25th Annual Golf 4 Kids outing was more than just a day on the green; it was a powerful demonstration of the Central Indiana community coming together to support children. With perfect weather, great company and spirited competition, the event was a resounding success raising vital funds to send local kids to summer camp.

“It was a beautiful day for golf and most importantly we were out there supporting children in our area,” said Erik Pederson, who golfed in this year’s Golf 4 Kids. “I love doing stuff like this and supporting summer camp is a great way to give back”

For 25 years, Golf 4 Kids has been more than just the game, it’s about giving children the experience a summer of growth, discovery and new friendships. With a resounding $40,000 raised, the money will go directly to helping local kids attend The Salvation Army’s summer camps, where they can explore new interests, build confidence, and make memories that last a lifetime.

While most families are working, many struggle financially and struggle to pay for summer camps. In Indiana, one in five of Indiana’s youth are living in poverty, and an additional 23% are living in low-income households according to Indiana Afterschool Network.

“Our summer camps are affordable for families, but parents still struggle to pay for the camps with all other expenses in their life,” said Major Malinda O’Neil, Central Indiana Area Commander. “Having thousands of dollars ready to help these families is going to very far.”

Summer camp isn’t just for parents to give their children something to do during the months school is out of session. Camp provides children with several growth opportunities like trying new things, discovering hidden talents and developing new skills and friendships.

This year, The Salvation Army of Eagle Creek is launching an exciting new cultural exploration program, in partnership with local artists, musicians, and community leaders from diverse backgrounds. “Bringing new cultural learning to our summer camps means exposing children to a world of creativity and fun,” said Major O’Neil. “The more we can introduce to these children, the more they will learn and experience.”

We are grateful to every golfer, sponsor, and volunteer who made this year’s Golf 4 Kids outing an unforgettable day. Together, we’re doing more than just golfing; we are investing in the future of our community’s youth.
