2021 PATHWAY OF HOPE STORY
CONGRATULATIONS TELISE, WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!
Telise, a single mom in Champaign County, felt like she was at the end of her rope when she visited The Salvation Army in April of 2021. She had fallen behind on her bills and couldn’t catch up based on her income. Telise connected with Bobbi, a Salvation Army Case Worker, as she shed tears about her situation, also sharing that she aspired to owning her own daycare business.
Telise joined the Salvation Army’s Pathway of Hope program which offers individualized services to families with children who desire to take action to break the cycle of crisis and vulnerability that repeats generation after generation. Pathway of Hope seeks to address the root causes of poverty and helps families overcome challenges like unemployment, unstable housing, and lack of education, to gain stability and create self-sufficiency.
Over the course of four months, Telise worked closely with Bobbi, not just on managing her finances, but taking initiatives to start her business as she continued to work her full-time job. Soon after, Telise was she caught up on her bills and she had completed all licensing requirements for daycare providers including CPR/First Aid certification. With the help of the Salvation Army, Telise even possesed a constructed daycare agreement. Today, Telise owns and operates her own FT daycare business, Little Luves Daycare located in Urbana, and she continues to partner with the Salvation Army for continued moral support. Telise is open for business and can be contacted at jonestelisa218@gmail.com .
