SUCCESSFUL FOOD DRIVE
The Salvation Army of Champaign County hosted our first food drive of the year on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 to keep up with the growing number of families in need and restock local food pantry shelves.
Thanks to the generous public, we collected more than 500 non-perishable food items for distribution at The Red Shield Center in Champaign, IL.
Special thanks to UNICEF student volunteers who partnered with us: "UNICEF at UIUC is happy to conduct a healthy food drive for the people of Champaign with The Salvation Army, as access to nutritious food is a fundamental aspect of UNICEF's mission to ensure that every child has a fair chance in life,” said Varshal Patel, Student President for UNICEF at UIUC
“Food insecurity is a serious concern for some in our community, so we rely on the generosity of the local community to help provide needed resources. The need continues to rise in our community, and it is important that as we enter the warmer months, we have food on our shelves ready for distribution,” stated Major Randall Summit of the Salvation Army of Champaign County.
We will accept donations to our food pantry during the hours of 9AM-3pm Monday-Friday.
Monetary donations for food is always helpful:
