Salvation Army Red Kettles to Be Doubled Up to $15,000 Thanks to New $10,000 Gift from Nugent Foundation
All donations to Red Kettles in Bartholomew County to be matched during final week of bell ringing
The match just keeps growing! The Elizabeth Ruddick Nugent Foundation has added $10,000 to the special Red Kettle match that will double donations to The Salvation Army December 18-24. Every dollar dropped into Red Kettles in Bartholomew County will now be doubled up to $15,000 with the addition of the new funds.
"This is such a blessing," said Captain Amy Tompkins, corps officer for The Salvation Army of Columbus. "With just a few days left of bell ringing, this is exactly the kind of boost we really need. I hope that people are inspired to sign up for two hours of bell ringing so that we can make the most of this opportunity. The people in Bartholomew County are so generous, and I have every confidence they will step up to the challenge!"
Kettles and bell ringers can be found at locations across the county, including Walmart, Sam’s Club, Kroger, Hobby Lobby, and Walgreens. Smaller counter kettles are also sprinkled around the community at retailers and restaurants. Businesses interested in hosting a Red Kettle or a counter kettle during these final days of the campaign should reach out to Capt. Tompkins at (812) 372-7118.
Many more volunteer bell ringers are still needed to ensure that Red Kettles can be out through Christmas Eve. Individuals, groups, and families are invited to sign up on RegisterToRing.com for the location, date, and time of their choosing. In just two hours, a bell ringer can raise enough money to feed a family of four for an entire week.
