The Salvation Army Eagle Creek Corps Community Center Receives $5,000 Grant

Jul 24, 2024

To provide essential assistance to households in need, The Salvation Army Eagle Creek Corps Community Center is pleased to announce a $5,000 grant from Glick Philanthropies through the Glick Community Relief Fund, that supports local nonprofit organizations focused on basic needs.

The Salvation Army Eagle Creek Corps Community Center, located at 4400 N. High School Road, serves thousands of people each year on the west side of Indianapolis and Hendricks County. Eagle Creek offers a variety of programs that help with food, clothing, transportation and other needs.

“This money will help us continue serving all the families that walk in our door at Eagle Creek,” said Captain Aaron Johnson, Lead Pastor at Eagle Creek. “Glick has given us grants in previous years and we are so thankful for another grant that will help support our mission.”

The grant will help support The Salvation Army Eagle Creek’s growing food pantry. It hosts more than 200 local families struggling with food insecurity one day each week to pick up essential items.

Grant money will also help local families with emergency financial assistance. Last year, The Salvation Army Eagle Creek gave more than $12,000 to help families with financial assistance which include rent, utilities, clothing and gas cards. The families served at Eagle Creek Corps also benefit from The Salvation Army’s annual holiday program, including Coats for Kids and Angel Tree.

The Eagle Creek Corps programs and ministries help families clear the roadblocks to gain greater independence and financial stability, so they are less likely to need future assistance.

The Glick Community Relief Fund focuses on increasing food access, expanding accessible transportation, connecting community members to utility assistance, and prioritizing mental health support. This grant was one of 84 totaling $652,500 that was distributed to nonprofit organizations across the country where Gene B. Glick Company managed properties are located.
