In 1885, The Salvation Army led the charge in Victorian England to raise the age of consent when it was found that young children were being sold into sexual slavery, at times even by their own parents. This confrontation came at great cost to the immediate reputation of The Salvation Army including a Salvation Army officer being indicted and put on trial. Although he was acquitted, another ally of the movement did serve time in prison for his role in bringing this evil to light. You can read more about that event HERE.
