This Is Why We Do It

Oct 9, 2018 | by Alisha Blach

The world is moving fast. Our eyes are constantly glued to a screen just to try and keep up with all the changes happening around us. We spend less time outside, and more time trying to complete to-do lists and meet obligations.

It isn't some hidden fact that children and adults across first world countries are seeing the affects of this. Our inactivity and time inside is impacting both physical and mental health in monumental ways. Now, it almost feels like we've been stuck in this revolving door of our culture and lifestyle and we're unable to step out.

That's where we come in.

Echo Grove as a whole sees this ever-changing world we live in, and we offer a place of solace and comfort. When you step on our campground, the world simply doesn't fit behind a screen. To see the world, you have to put down your phone, your computer, and your to-do list to look around you. Finally.

We are happy to help serve that mission and be this wonderful place for you. An adventure at our camp isn't just a retreat--but an experience we have crafted for you. Passionately, we serve each and every person who steps on our grounds. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Each staff member has been called and impassioned for our mission--and that mission is ultimately for God. Our faith fuels every second of work we do. No matter if it's serving your meal, hosting your group, or running your activity, it's all for Him. We hope you can see our love for this mission during your time with us.

Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." This means so much more than just being people in a job--it means we're daily fulfilling God's purpose. That is to bring Him to anybody and everybody--and for us at camp, that means every single person who steps onto our campground.

We may not have met some of you yet, but we can't wait to; others that we have met, we love you in Christ's name, like you're a part of our family. Anybody who wants to be a part of our camp is welcome into the family with open arms because that's what Christ would have done.

We want you to eat in our dining hall like family; we want you to have a great rest like you are relaxing in our home; we want to give you activities that make memories--because this is what Christ would have done if He were in our shoes.

Your retreat is more than a retreat for us, but God's chance to show you something beautiful through His creation. Our team understands this wholeheartedly, and we wait in anticipation to show you this goodness and fruitfulness that can only come from camp.

This is why we do what we do. This is why we've put down our phones to enjoy nature. This is how Christ has called us to serve.

Now I challenge you to do the same. Put down you phone and join us in the great outdoors, in God's creation, in His name. We can't wait to have you.

Echo Grove is a great place to meet God in His great outdoors.  Through relaxation, adventure and rich fellowship, we endeavor to bring all campers closer to Him.
