Tree of Lights Campaign
Tree of Lights Campaign Begins on Wednesday!
Help the Salvation Army of Elkhart make sure that Hope Marches On in our community.
The Salvation Army of Elkhart’s Tree of Lights Christmas Campaign, the organization’s largest annual fundraiser, will kick off this Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. at 300 N. Main St. The goal is to raise $515,000 and all donations will be used to fund critical social services that are provided to local families at Christmastime and throughout 2022.
Community members are invited to attend Wednesday’s half-hour event. Refreshments will be provided and there will be remarks from City of Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson, Elkhart Corps Commanding Officers Lieutenants Wayne and Katy Benedict, and Salvation Army Advisory Board President Nancy Poikonen.
“It is because of the continued support of our community that allows us to continue to help those in need,” Lt. Wayne said. “Many of our neighbors are still fighting the impacts of the pandemic, but The Salvation Army is working alongside our generous community to ensure that hope marches on this Christmas season.”
In addition to donating financial resources, area residents can support the Tree of Lights Campaign by:
- Signing up to be an in-person or virtual bell ringer
- Donating toys for Angel Tree
- Attending the Roaring 20’s Gala on Dec. 3
- Participating in the Adopt-A-Family program
- Filling a Red Ribbon Basket
Meeting social, spiritual, and emotional needs, The Salvation Army of Elkhart annually serves an average of 3,500 individuals through year-round programs and services. The umbrella of programs and services in Elkhart reaches wide and includes supplying food, rental, and utility assistance, and childcare financial assistance, providing youth programs, offering spiritual counseling, equipping families to break the cyclical nature of poverty, aiding disaster victims when catastrophe strikes, and providing assistance for families at Christmas.
