Summer in the City

Summer in the City Image

The 2020 Summer in the City Campaign, presented by Toyota, is in direct response to the coronavirus pandemic. This four-week campaign, taking place from July 13, 2020 to August 7, 2020, will raise funds, hope and awareness to support the next phase of The Salvation Army’s COVID-19 related assistance to Detroit.

The Salvation Army will assist metro Detroit in building a road to recovery by helping individuals and families affected by COVID-19 with living expenses such as food assistance, rent and utility bill payments, and other assistance including prescriptions, water, and transportation.  This will also include operational expenses to provide the assistance to the community through our Corps Caseworkers.

To date during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit has:

  • Provided nearly 1,106,883 meals to families
  • Served nearly 304,235 beverages to families
  • Helped more than 3,698 families with utility and rent assistance

Gather your friends and donate to one of the fundraising levels below which help the The Salvation Army’s Summer in the City Campaign:

  • A $20 donation will help provide a basic needs kit.
