Bringing Hope and Help in the Midst of COVID-19 in Saginaw

Mar 31, 2020

With a presence in almost every ZIP code in America, The Salvation Army is uniquely positioned to respond to the unique needs of people living in poverty. These challenges are exponentially magnified during times of crisis, including pandemics like coronavirus (COVID-19). Across the United States, we are stepping up to the challenge and continue to serve the most vulnerable populations in each community. This is just one of many stories of how we are meeting the needs of those who rely on The Salvation Army during difficult times.

From Captains Thom and Cassandra Moffitt:

When trips, conferences, sporting events, and more are canceled or “postponed” in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the ripple effect is hardest on those already struggling.

The working mother whose hours were cut when the hotel rooms were canceled along with those out-of-town meetings.

The father whose second job depends on tips for his great service, but almost no one is coming in right now.

The elderly woman who felt isolated before, but now she really is.

The child who depended on school meals, but now isn’t sure when they may get their next hot meal.

People who never thought they would need The Salvation Army are finding hope and safety behind the Red Shield.

The Salvation Army’s service is rooted in, “love thy neighbor.” And, because of neighbors like you, The Salvation Army will keep our heart and door open for our neighbors in need.

As life serves up uncertainty and fear, The Salvation Army serves up basic assistance, along with love and hope. If you or someone you know needs help in the Saginaw County, Michigan area, please call us at: 989-401-7881.

We want to say a special thank you to Hidden Harvest for bringing A TON of various breads for the community. Your hard work and dedication is an incredible example!
