All red kettle donations, including physical kettles, text-to-give and Moore’s Virtual Red Kettle, from Dec. 11 through Dec. 14 will be fully matched, dollar-for-dollar up to $84,000, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor.

In addition, the first donor who generously provides an $8,400 gift during the three-day campaign will receive an autographed Detroit Lions Legend Herman Moore Throwback Jersey.
“I am amazed by the generosity of metro Detroiters in the face of all that has happened this year,” said Moore, who also serves as president of The Herman Moore Tackle Life Foundation, a Michigan-based nonprofit committed to preparing adolescents for the future. “The Salvation Army has always played a pivotal in role supporting thousands in our community, which is why I want to do whatever I can to draw attention to their cause. Every dollar raised through this challenge and the Rescue Christmas campaign as a whole will go to people who truly need it."
The legendary Detroit Lions wide receiver, who spent 11 seasons in Detroit, acts as The Salvation Army’s public face for the Red Kettle Campaign by raising awareness and encouraging the public to help reach the nonprofit’s $8 million Red Kettle fundraising goal.
“Mr. Moore serving as our Red Kettle Corporate Chairperson has been a blessing for The Salvation Army,” said Major Timothy Meyer, general secretary, metro Detroit area commander and chief operating officer of The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. “This $84,000 Challenge is a testament to the passion he’s shown to our commitment of Rescuing Christmas this year – especially during a year that’s been so tough for many individuals and families.
