Detroit Temple Corps Hosting Crescendo Detroit‘s Music & Arts Camp

The Salvation Army Detroit Temple Corps Community Center is hosting Crescendo Detroit‘s Summer Music & Arts Camp bringing music education to students interested in the arts. The camp kicked off on Tuesday, June 25 and runs through Saturday, August 17.

This musical partnership was started to truly immerse children in the arts, offering lessons in band, orchestra, choir, music composition, jazz improvisation, musical theater, dance and more. Each day at camp will start with breakfast promptly served at 8 a.m., followed by a variety of lessons, recreation activities and outings throughout the rest of the day, which concludes at 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursday, and 11 a.m. on Fridays.

Crescendo Detroit is a 501c3 nonprofit and was incorporated in January 2013. Crescendo Detroit offers youth between the ages of 5 and 18 extracurricular programs centered on instrumental music and dance. Crescendo Detroit offers a truly unique after school and summer experience for its participants. Generally, enrichment programs are centrally located requiring parents to transport their children. For many families without a car, this proves a high barrier to participation. Believing that access is important regardless of financial means, their partnership with The Salvation Army Detroit Temple is the perfect fit, because the Detroit Temple is centrally located in a Detroit neighborhood where student participants live.
