Kraft Wrap donates 1800 tarps to The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services

Jul 15, 2019

Tarps will be used where they are needed - across the US and in Detroit.

When natural disasters occur there is often a great need for big blue tarps. These tarps cover rooftops and prevent wind and water from entering the home or business, protecting individuals and businesses from further loss and damage. These tarps can be in high demand during a time of need.

Throughout the week of July 8, truckloads of Kraft Wrap tarps were delivered to The Salvation Army, Eastern Michigan Division Headquarters. On Thursday, July 15, the final delivery of over 1,800 blue tarps arrived, along with a team of leaders from Kraft Wrap. We had a chance to take pictures, chat with, and thank those who were responsible for this generous gift.

Kraft Wrap is a family owned and operated business, is based in Warren, MI, and was incorporated in 1975. It was established by one man, who ran the equipment (one machine), packaged the product, and delivered it in his own vehicle. Today, he and his family are all active participants in the day-to-day activities of the corporation, along with a host of other employees, and a variety of equipment and trucks. This has given Kraft Wrap a unique flavor -- the best of old world experience and standards along with the innovative ingenuity of the modern perspective. Two generations working side-by-side with a shared goal of customer satisfaction.

Our Emergency Disaster Services team has taken several of the tarps to a training event that is currently taking place in Wisconsin, so that team members can assess the size, shape and durability of the tarps. Our national headquarters has been informed of the donation as well, so as The Salvation Army prepares for Hurricane Barry's landfall, the tarps can be shipped at a moment's notice.

The Salvation Army has served survivors of every major national disaster since 1900. The Salvation Army does not place an administrative fee on disaster donations. During emergency disasters, 100 percent of designated gifts are used to support specific relief efforts.
