The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division Welcomes New Officers to Leadership Team

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (August 10, 2020)The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division is pleased to announce new officers to the metro Detroit area.

Majors Matt and Patricia Grindle are the new corps officers at The Salvation Army of Warren Corps Community Center. The Grindles are responsible for business operations, programs, ministries and social services at the corps. They also preach sermons on Sundays, teach Sunday school and oversee the children’s singing groups. Both studied at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas. Major Matt has a Bachelor of Arts in management and human relations, and Major Patricia has a Bachelor of Applied Science in business management and human relations. Major Patricia is a lifelong Salvationist, growing up with The Salvation Army and Major Matt is a third generation Salvation Army officer. The Grindles have served as officers for 25 years and reside in Fraser, Michigan.

The Salvation Army has selected Major Timothy Pascoe as Divisional Secretary for Business and Major Debra Pascoe as Divisional Secretary for Mission at The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Divisional Headquarters. Major Timothy oversees the business operations, finance, property and IT for the division, and Major Debra supervises the corps review process and divisional programming process, statistics and strategic planning. Major Timothy holds a Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University in Naperville, Illinois and a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois. Prior to this appointment, Major Debra served as the Divisional Women’s Secretary while Major Timothy held his current title in The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division in Chicago. Majors Timothy and Debra have served The Salvation Army for 32 years and currently live in Southfield, Michigan.

The Salvation Army Royal Oak Citadel also received new leaders. Lieutenants Kory and Heidi Strand serve as administrators and pastors overseeing business operations, programs, ministries and social services. Their pastoral responsibilities include preaching and visitation at the corps. Lieutenant Kory previously worked in IT for The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers Command in Chicago while Lieutenant Heidi was an elementary school teacher. Most recently, the lieutenants served as corps officers of The Salvation Army of Olathe in Kansas. Lieutenant Kory received a Bachelor of Arts in computer science from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. Lieutenant Heidi has a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from North Park University in Chicago. The Strands grew up attending The Salvation Army as their church and have been officers for four years. They reside in Royal Oak, Michigan.
