PREA Compliance

The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) was passed in 2003. The purpose of the act was to “provide for the analysis of the incidence and effects of prison rape in Federal, State, and local institutions and to provide information, resources, recommendations and funding to protect individuals from prison rape.”

The Salvation Army Great Lakes Harbor Light System has zero tolerance towards all forms of sexual abuse and harassment. All sexually assaultive behavior within the program shall be reported to local law enforcement for investigation and prosecution.

Anyone can report an allegation of sexual abuse or harassment. To make a report you may call Renee Shaw at (313) 556-5555 or email Renee.Shaw@usc.salvationarmy.org. Or call the Sexual Abuse Hotline at 517-335-5355 or 1-877-517-PREA (7732) or online at: www.michigan.gov/corrections, any of which will allow you to remain anonymous.
