Toy Town allows families in need this Holiday season to get the help they need. Toy Town is a toy shop held the week before Christmas that allows families to "shop" and select gifts for their children and teens. There are so many aspects of Toy Town, please read them below, and check out a great article about Toy Town HERE
With over 2,500 children and teens served last year, we rely on the community of businesses and stores around us to make Toy Town possible.
We rely on our community to support us as #PartnersForGood, we need businesses, churches, agencies, and individuals to become

Toys are Collected at over 80 collection sites across the Tri-State area (See the complete list of collection sites at the bottom of the page) As toys and gifts are collected, they are counted and sorted into categories listed below.
Each gift is also divided into categories as girl, boy, and baby, with appropriate age ranges Each child receives the following gifts:
This all happens in a "toy shop" setup and decorated every year. It's a real "santas workshop" sort of place! Volunteer personal shoppers help each family through the different stations and help them select their gifts and items. Over 900 families made their way through the Toy Town - Toy Shop just last year.
Presents under the tree capture the spirit of Christmas but taking care of the family's NEEDS such as food is where love and hope go above and beyond. As part of Toy Town every family receives a food box of canned goods, boxed food items, and donated food items, such as bread from Lewis Bakeries, or meat items from Perdue Farms. Taking care of the families' Christmas dinner and relieves a burden for the family and ensures they are cared for over the holidays
Food donations for Toy Town are accepted in the fall and we encourage monetary donations towards the grocery boxes to allow us to leverage our increased purchasing power in acquiring food.
With over 1,000 food boxes packed and distributed last year, we rely on the support of our community to make this possible!
The Salvation Army in partnership with Toys for tots works to provide Christmas presents for children 0- 16 years of age. So the joy of Christmas can still be experienced without the parents having to worry about anything more than what they already have on their plate. It is The Salvation Army's hope that all children feel loved and cared for at Christmas, and we are excited to be working closely with Toys for Tots and other community partners towards the same goal. This is a special time for Children and they may not understand why there may be no presents at Christmas. The Salvation Army's desire is that all know of a special gift that was given by God to this world in Jesus. And He is the reason for the season. We hope that by the selfless giving of gifts and other items we have an avenue to share the love of Jesus and the gospel.
Adopt a Family is a program that helps families in severe a dire need by "taking care" of their entire Christmas....food, gifts, and clothing items.... we rely on community partners and individuals to volunteer to "Adopt" families who are suffering. Families are selected for "adoption" after the sign-up process concludes for the season.
If you would like to adopt a family, please reach out to Emily Hasty by clicking HERE, or calling her at 812-483-6927, the last day for new adopters to sign up is Oct 31st
Every parent of a teen knows they can quite often be hard to buy for...their specific interests and taste can vary, and often what they want can be a little pricy...
We've found a solution that works with local companies and groups to create "stockings" full of small items, snacks, and tech items any teen would enjoy. Bags are designed and made by donors and volunteers and categorized as boy, girl, or gender neutral. Each family can select the stocking that would best fit their teen and ensures the teens have a very Merry Christmas along with the kiddos. :)

The Salvation Army in conjunction with Don's Cleaners are making available clean, gently used coats for children and parents. These coats are given to Don's Cleaners and cleaned and distributed through The Salvation Army's assistance programs. We are planning on giving coats to all of the families that seek Christmas Assistance with us, AND any leftover adult coats will be given out to any needy homeless or other clients in our food programs. Please feel free to donate monetarily below, or if you would like to drop off a used coat please seek out your nearest Dons Cleaners location. Thank you to them for their partnership!
