Donations in Red Kettles to be Matched Over Holiday Weekend

Nov 22, 2023

The Salvation Army's annual Christmas fundraising campaign will be getting a big boost over the holiday weekend this year. On November 24 and 25 cash donations dropped into Red Kettles in Vanderburg and Warrick counties will be doubled thanks to a generous $9,500 matching gift from two local couples. The match from these anonymous "Angel donors" will be used to encourage holiday shoppers to give a little more than they might otherwise to make an even bigger impact in the lives of their neighbors in need.

Evansville Bell Ringers (6).jpg         "We are deeply thankful for the generosity of donors and partners in matching dollars raised at our kettle sites this Christmas season," said Captain Brandon Lewis of The Salvation Army of Evansville. "These gifts will allow us to continue meeting human need without discrimination through all our programs in 2024."

Inflation has hit Hoosier household especially hard this year and The Salvation Army has worked tirelessly to meet the increased needs of area residents with emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, and food. Donations made to the iconic Red Kettles are more important than ever, as they will help to ensure that The Salvation Army can continue to meet these needs while providing regular programming and services to children, families, and adults in the community.

Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this weekend will find bell ringers at Walmart, Sam's Club, Schnucks, IGA, Hobby Lobby, Walgreens, Eastland Mall, and JCPenney. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this holiday season is invited to visit and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.
