War on Hunger - 2021

Apr 8, 2021 | by Alex Rahman

Tomorrow, Friday April 9th is The Salvation Army's War on Hunger in Evansville. This is a campaign that has been happening for almost 20 years and its a vital part in reaching our community. This is a fund raising campaign to collect financial and in kind donations of food. This year specifically is focused on financial contributions to help us expand what we are already doing for the surrounding community. This is also a campaign to bring awareness that there is help available to people. Just three blocks away from our building was a mother of 9 who was crying on her front porch wondering where she would get her families next meal. She had no idea that even right down the street was a food pantry open that same day and ready to serve her... Luckily another client of ours asked her what was wrong and the rest is history... she was able to receive help that same day!

We may think that people know what's happening or what's available in their city... but we want to MAKE SURE that everyone knows the help thats available to them. We are taking volunteers to the 6 local Schnucks stores, who so kindly allowed us to station in front of their stores, so that we can educate and spread the word to shoppers.

We are here to help, but those who need help, need to where to find it...

Thank you to our wonderful community for their support, we are here to serve you!
