Thanksgiving And Beyond Distribution
The Salvation Army is known nation-wide for its holiday assistance, and The Salvation Army Farmington Hills Corps Community Center’s food distribution on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving was no exception with 110 families served. This year, however, families received extra help: besides the customary Thanksgiving meal, additional food boxes with fresh produce, dairy products, chicken, and hot dogs were given so that families would have plenty of food after Thanksgiving day.
“We want to thank our community partners who donated food and also worked with us to ensure the needs of those around us are being addressed,” said Lieutenant (pastor) Anil Kumar. “In our distribution line, people were saying, ‘This is the best, I did not expect this much food!’”
The service was made as contactless as possible, with food boxes prepared inside by staff and volunteers and handed to families outside in a drive through line. In total, this effort gave about 450 people a week’s worth of food.
As the holiday season continues, so do our assistance programs. Please donate now to help keep your neighbors in need safe, warm, and fed.
