After being paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, redetermination of Medicaid coverage resumed this year due to federal legislation.
As Michigan reestablishes its redetermination process, it is critical that beneficiaries return their renewal paperwork as quickly as possible to avoid unnecessarily losing benefits.
The Salvation Army and its partners are inviting anyone who receives Medicaid and is up for renewal or is unsure of their coverage status to visit one of the social service agencies partnering with The Salvation Army that day. Teams of partner navigators will be on-site to answer questions, provide guidance, and assist people in completing their renewal paperwork online.
To help Michiganders renew their medicaid benefits, The Salvation Army Great Lakes Harbor Light System is partnering with:
- The Greater Flint Health Coalition
- Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS)
- Genesee County Health Department
- Hamilton Community Health Network
- Hurley Medical Center
- McLaren
- HAP
- Molina Healthcare
- Michigan Primary Care Association
- Michigan Primary Care Association
- Blue Cross Complete of Michigan
- Meridian, Priority Health
- UnitedHealthcare Community Plan
- Mott Children's Clinic
- Genesee Health Plan
Media are invited to the Greater Flint Health Coalition located at 120 W 1st Street, Flint, MI 48502. Arrive at 10 a.m. Leaders and spokespeople from all partner organizations will gather to kick off the day with photo and interview opportunities before the doors open at partner facilities throughout Flint.
Medicaid Renewal Locations: Wednesday, January 24 from noon to 6 p.m.
- Center of Hope

While these efforts will help citizens with the steps of renewing their health insurance coverage, it will not determine whether they qualify or get re-approved. For more information about the Medicaid redetermination process, please visit Michigan.gov/MIBridges.
