Twice the Impact: Donations will be Doubled Thanks to Anonymous Gift
The Salvation Army of Fort Wayne could see a big boost to its annual Christmas fundraising campaign this Friday and Saturday thanks to an anonymous local donor. On November 24 and 25 cash donations dropped into Red Kettles in Allen County will be doubled thanks to a generous $12,000 matching gift from a long-time supporter. This match will be used to encourage holiday shoppers to dig a little deeper into their pockets knowing that their gift could make an even bigger impact in the lives of their neighbors in need.
"Gifts to The Salvation Army's Red Kettles on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday get doubled this year, all thanks to an anonymous matching donor," said Lt. Scott Smith of The Salvation Army of Fort Wayne. "Every dollar you give creates twice the hope for struggling families. The hungry will get food, laid off workers will get a hand up, families will learn more life skills, and kids will have something to open on Christmas morning. No cash is no problem—some of our Red Kettle stands now accept credit card donations too!"
Local residents are feeling the impact of high inflation and and increased cost of living, but The Salvation Army has been working to meet the increased need, especially with those who are reaching out for help for the first time. Red Kettles provide the funds necessary to continue these vital ministries during the holidays and throughout 2024.
Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this weekend will find bell ringers at Walmart, Sam's Club, Kroger, Hobby Lobby, and JCPenney. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this holiday season is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.
Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in the community where it is given.
