Donor Info Donor Guidelines

Donor Information:

Adopt-A-Family:

Is a Christmas sharing program where community members are matched with families struggling financially.  The Salvation Army qualifies families based on income and family size.  On the Adopt-A-Family application the parent/guardian lists gift suggestions for each child, age 17 and under, in the household.

We will consider families who may marginally exceed the income limits but suffer from unfortunate or special circumstances (i.e. job loss, extenuating medical issues/costs).

The Matching Process:

Matching will start on November 14, 2022 and continue through December 5, 2022. The Donor Match Form will be located on safoxcities.org by November 14, 2022.

We will send you the family gift list once you've been matched. Due to confidentiality, identifying information will be omitted. The list you receive will have each child's first name, age, and gender in the household.

Commonly asked questions:

Who gets gifts?

Children in the household ages 17 and under.

Please also provide a gift card for up to $50-$100 from a local grocer for the family to purchase necessary food items to make a holiday meal.

What are the donor guidelines?

The following guidelines have been established to eliminate confusion and to establish fair and consistent treatment for all each year:

  • Please limit gifts to a suggested maximum of $100 per child.
  • Please provide a grocery gift card, approximately $50-$100, for a Christmas meal.  Please do not purchase food as we do not have the ability to store perishables.
  • Gift cards should be labeled, put in an envelope or gift bag, and put securely in the tote/bags.
  • We are asking that you not purchase household items or larger items, such as assembled bikes, due to limited space.
  • Gifts are given to the families as presented so please do not include any identifying information as it would be given directly to the family.

Should I wrap the gifts for the family?

We suggest that items are not wrapped so the parents know what gifts their children are receiving. If items are wrapped please include a list for the parents. You can also include a roll of wrapping paper in your gifts.

$75-$100 per child doesn’t buy many gifts, can we spend more per child?

These are guidelines and each sponsor will need to determine the total amount they want to spend per child.  The reason we ask sponsors to limit the gift amount to $75-$100 is so all recipient children are treated fairly and consistently each year. Young children may not understand why they get more gifts some years and not others.

When and where do I bring the gifts once I’m done shopping?

  • The gift drop off day is Tuesday, December 13th from 8:30am - 7:00pm at The Salvation Army Fox Cities Worship & Community Center 1525 Appleton Rd Menasha, WI
  • Please put gifts in a container with the family number clearly marked on the container. The Family # is located at the top of the page. When possible, please consolidate gifts into stackable bins or boxes because we have a limited amount of space. The families will be picking up their gifts on Thursday, December 15th and Friday December 16th.
  • Please write your name, phone number & the family number on a separate piece of paper to give to the volunteer as Donor Drop Off will be DRIVE UP ONLY. This will assist staff in noting your items were dropped off.

For any questions or concerns, please email wum.foxcitieschristmas@usc.salvationarmy.org

Thank you so much for your support of those in need in our community! Because of your generosity, these children will have gifts under the tree to open on Christmas Day.
