Hope Marches On with The Salvation Army's Mission
Over the past year, The Salvation Army's mission across the world has seen the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to persist in the lives of our local community members. Those who were already reaching out to our services for help were thrust further into needing assistance, and many of those who were managing to make ends meet were suddenly forced to face challenges that they never could have expected. This wave of exacerbated local needs came to be recognized by The Salvation Army as 'Pandemic Poverty'.
Despite the many challenges that our mission saw while serving those facing the realities of pandemic poverty, one thing remained: Hope. While the Heartland Division communities were met with over 600,000 meals for the food insecure, more than 100,000 hygiene and PPE kits for those underequipped, and almost 50,000 nights of lodging for those facing homelessness - it became clear to us that Hope Marches On, throughout even the toughest of times for our communities!
Christmas is rapidly coming and The Salvation Army is preparing for another wave of increased local needs that will rival last year. The holiday season always brings added pressures and challenges to our local families and individuals in need, but the hardships of pandemic poverty make this year one of greater concern for our mission. That is why we are kicking off our giving season now, 100 days before Christmas, because early giving can be the life changing difference for someone in need.
Countless local neighbors in your community silently struggle with finding stable housing, affording rent or utility costs, and simply securing a warm meal for themselves or their family. This all can change by joining The Salvation Army and giving your support to the nation's largest private provider of social services and support. With your help this holiday season, those facing pandemic poverty will be met with the assistance they need, as Hope Marches On for them and all who turn to The Salvation Army's mission!
