The Salvation Army kettles in St. Croix County meets and exceed goal

The St. Croix County Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign has come to a close.  The organization’s annual campaign had a goal of raising $150,000 in November and December to help fund their main program: Grace Place Shelter.  Grace Place is a homeless shelter located in New Richmond and houses up to 64 people in need of shelter.  At press time the shelter was full and had a waiting list for people needing shelter.

The goal of $150,000 is crucial to the organization in helping to fund the day to day needs of Grace Place Shelter.  The shelter provides a warm place to stay, case management and connections to resources in order for individuals and families to find and maintain permanent housing.  Grace Place and The Salvation Army are pleased to announce that with the help of many awesome sponsors, donors and volunteer bell ringers the organization was able to raise $152,608.18!

Local Salvation Army Director Duana Bremer said, “We are so pleased with the donations this year.  It helps us help others when our kettles are filled.  We are thankful for everyone involved in making it successful.”  The Red Kettle Campaign in St. Croix County is also assisted by the now famous 30 hour marathon ring in St. Croix County.  A major portion of the funds raised during the Kettle Campaign are raised during those 30 hours.  December 18th and 19th this year, the marathon took place.  Noah Wiedenfeld and the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department Benevolent Association along with the Mounted Posse and many others came together to help raise $85,000 of the total during those 30 hours.

“Our community is so wonderful.  We feel blessed to be here.” said, Bremer.  Grace Place Shelter is open 24 hours a day and serves the homeless on an emergency basis.  If you would like to learn more or send in support the address is: 505 W. 8th Street in New Richmond, WI  54017.  They also have a website to learn more at www.SAgraceplace.org
