Why The Salvation Army has a Memorial Service: This traditional service gives all an opportunity to pause, reflect, and rejoice in God's faithfulness to us, and to those whose lives we are honoring.
What to Bring: Your family and a chair. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at the Royal Oak Salvation Army, located at N. 3015 Main Street, Royal Oak, Michigan. For up-to-date information, please check our website, https://centralusa.salvationarmy.org/greatlakes/ or on Facebook at Great Lakes Salvationists & Friends.
What to Expect: The Salvation Army brass band will begin to play at 2:30 PM. Many sit near the gravesite of their loved ones who are interred there, or with friends of family they know. The names of soldiers who have been Promoted to Glory since the last service will be read aloud. There will be a couple of congregational songs, and a brief devotional, followed by the playing of taps.
