Today more than 300 metro Detroit students were treated to a back-to-school shopping spree courtesy of Target. Using $80 giftcards given to The Salvation Army, children from families who need just a little help this year bought backpacks, clothing, folders, binders, markers and other basic necessities.

The Salvation Army and Target are helping a total of 12,000 K-12 students across the country gear up for the upcoming academic year and get ready to succeed in school with the Target School Spree. Each child was also given a reusable Target shopping bag and paired with a volunteer chaperone from The Salvation Army.
